To have a strong or persistent desire; yearn.  "A hankering", which transforms the verb into a noun,  is a colloquial way of saying that someone hankers, or desires, for something.

強いまたは永続的な欲求を持つこと。憧れ、動詞から名詞に変換された「ハンカリング」は、誰かが何かを切望したり、欲しがったりすることを口語的に言う方法です。
